St Patrick and Sentness

St Patrick and Sentness

The default posture of Jesus' followers is to be one of sentness...if we lack sentness, we lack the character of Jesus.

The story of St Patrick wonderfully embodies the sentness principle of Stone 5.  St Patrick not only came to faith in Christ and experienced personal transformation, but was  sent by Jesus  to the Irish.  We believe that "sentness" is not only for missionaries like Patrick, but for all followers of Jesus. Jesus said as much in his prayer found in John 17:18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

God may or may not be sending you to Irish pagans, but He most definitely is sending you to live as a  residential missionary  in the community where you now live.

Stone #5: Where are we to follow Jesus? Centered and Sent

As we live the first 4 Stones, our hearts and lives become “centered in Christ” rather than self.

We find that we are seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. As we seek first the Kingdom of God by living centered in Jesus, we are sent into the Kingdom of this world to live as ambassadors of God’s Kingdom. It is natural that Jesus followers would follow Jesus into the Kingdoms of the world, for those who are centered in Jesus have His heart for the world that God so loves.

Therefore we believe that the default posture of Jesus’ followers is one of sentness.
