Stone #5: Where are we to follow Jesus? Centered and Sent

As we live the first 4 Stones, our hearts and lives become “centered in Christ” rather than self.

We find that we are seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. As we seek first the Kingdom of God by living centered in Jesus, we are sent into the Kingdom of this world to live as ambassadors of God’s Kingdom. It is natural that Jesus followers would follow Jesus into the Kingdoms of the world, for those who are centered in Jesus have His heart for the world that God so loves.

Therefore we believe that the default posture of Jesus’ followers is one of sentness.

Stone #4: With whom do we follow Jesus? The Family as Church and Church as Family

Our life in God’s Kingdom must be lived as family - not just individual.

God planned from eternity past to bring us into His Kingdom as much loved sons and daughters who together form His family. We are to live out the Kingdom Family reality first and foremost with our natural family. Our families are to function as “little churches” - Kingdom communities following Jesus’ way of life. But we have also become family with all who have entered the Kingdom of God through faith in Jesus. We are to live our Father’s Kingdom way of life with our brothers and sisters.

Therefore, the “Church” is to function as a larger family, rather than an assembly of individuals.

Stone #3: When do we follow Jesus? Daily Rhythms

Jesus calls His followers to daily lay down their own plans and agendas in order to follow Jesus in the Kingdom way of life.

This must happen daily, for our daily rhythms shape our lives. If Jesus is to be Lord of our lives, He must be Lord of our days.

Therefore, followers of Jesus are to build their lives around the daily rhythms of God’s Kingdom such as rest, generosity, and celebration.

Therefore, followers of Jesus today, must listen to and follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Stone #1: What Are We To Do As We Follow Jesus? Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples

Jesus summed up the core activities of God’s Kingdom this way: we are to love God and love others.

This is referred to as the Great Commandment. We are follow Jesus as His disciples, learning how to live His Kingdom way of life. We are also instructed to make disciples by teaching others to do the same. This is called the Great Commission. The pairing of the Great Commandment and the Great Commission is the Irreducible Core of God’s Kingdom.

As followers of Jesus, we can do more than these commands but we cannot do less.
